4th day into MASwings: Delayed changed to RETIMED

On the 4th day of operation, I observed that the new airlines - MASwings - decided not to use the term “DELAY” for their delayed flights, but to use “RETIMED” or Pertukaran Masa (in Bahasa Melayu) instead. Whatever term they use, it still means DELAYED FLIGHT, which most of us do not want it to happen.

My first trip onboard MASwings is MH3220 to Labuan which was greeted with a 3 hours 15 mins delay! The flight bound for Labuan was scheduled for 0710 hours and most of the passengers have to wake up early that morning.

The counters were open early but still without the proper signage. As you can see from the photo above, it only show the Counter Number. I overheard a man (in red shirt) shouting to the ladies behind the counter, “flight to Limbang, flight to Limbang” and one of the lady answered, “flight to Limbang, over here sir”!! MasWings could have made it easier for the passengers if the signage is ON.
Back in the queue, a young lady engineered, well clothed in her red Shell’s coverall, was scheduled to have an inspection at 1000 hours. And, I was supposed to meet a friend for breakfast at 0900 hours. My cousin who is working with International Paint, also have a planed meeting at 0930 hours.
After getting my boarding pass, similar to Malaysia Airlines’ except for the logo and colour. But, without the information on which Gate I am supposed to use. Miri do have Gate ???? I supposed.. hahahahaa

Basically, most of the passengers, including some high ranks Petronas employees have appointments to meet that morning. And, there is not much we can do but waited until 1025 hours when we are supposed to board the Fokker 50 flight to Labuan. Maswings were courteous enough to issue us a free breakfast coupon at Malaysian Wok.

I was lucky to get a seat on the right side of the Fokker 50 so that I can capture a few shots along the way.

MAS and now, MASwings are learning from Air Asia. Whenever their flight is half-empty, they will “retime”. Business strategy that has a significant impact on the passengers. MAS used to be a reliable airline, taking off almost punctual all the time. But now, they adhered to Malaysian time instead of International standards.
I can imagine business meetings are severely impacted because of ineffiecient “retimed” schedule.
Next they will give an excuse like Air Asia, blaiming it on busy runways or nad weather … excuses …
Maybe, Sarawak should have their own reliable airline to make the competition stiffer …

haha.. I’m with you alexallied… but trust me.. there will be delays in our ‘future airline’ as I don’t want to loose money.. just like MAS, MASwings and AirAsia… unless, ur airline uses Fokker 50, but only offers business class..hehe
Delays are common nowadays, and frankly speaking we have AirAsia to blame for it…
Btw.. still loving those camera shots…
