About Uchu Keling
UCHU KELING was born on 12th January, 1968 and graduated with an Accounting diploma from Institute Teknologi Mara (now known as Universiti Teknologi Mara). My experience in Human Resources started when I joined Sekolah Menengah Vokesional Miri (now known as SM Teknik Miri) as a temporary teacher and I was also appointed as the Panitia for Mathematics and Science.
After two years with the Education Department, the late Jimmy Layang Enau brought me into Shell and I joined the Sarawak Shell Berhad Training Department in Lutong. I was given the task to implement the Continuing Education Scheme database system reporting to my bosses, Dr. Joseph Ko and Fadillah Ashaari. I also assist the department in facilitating various Shell’s BTEC and other HR training program in Miri, Labuan and Kota Kinabalu.
Besides monitoring the Continuing Education program and facilitating training programs, I was also involved in various research work among others were the study on How Malaysian Learn, headed by En. Abdillah Suffian, who once head the Centre of Modern Management in Kuching.
After my employment with Sarawak Shell Berhad, I joined Persekutuan Guru-Guru Melayu Brunei to kick off their SMART School Project. I was asked to set up and managed the SMART School education system. After five years of thorough planning, the project was successfully implemented at PGGMB School Sg. Akar, PGGMB Kuala Belait, PGGMB Madang, PGGMB Lambak.
After my successful stint in introducing Information Technology in Brunei schools, I was approached by Desmond Jerukan to work on an IT package and to train the staff of Sarawak’s local councils. The package includes module such as Introduction to Windows, Webmastering, Internet Relay Chats, Using Internet Explorer, etc. We managed to deliver the training program within one year via Sarawak’s first mobile training vehicle.
Afther leaving the education sector, I joined The Malaysian Today Press Sdn. Bhd. and was heading the IT Department and to set up a newspaper publishing system using Adobe Publishing applications. I was part of the team to set up Sarawak’s first tabloid - Malaysian Today, which later became the first sports tabloid in Malaysia with its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
In 2005 I joined Melu Services Agency Sdn. Bhd. With my accounting background, human resource, training and IT skills have been very helpful as a tool for me to develop new business opportunities in today’s borderless business world. My experience in dealing with Hewlett Packard, Cisco Systems, Microsoft Server Systems, web technologies, etc. is an asset to Melu Services Agency Sdn. Bhd. in moving forward to become a major agency that deals with online business, human resource management, oil and gas industries that depends on Wide Area Network topography.
After leaving Melu Services Agency, I am now no longer the Human Resource Manager for Rajawali Indah Engineering Sdn. Bhd and manage the Business Support Contract to Sarawak Shell Berhad and SSPC.
With effect from 1st November 2007, I no longer wish to be associate with Rajawali Indah Engineering Sdn Bhd because they have not been paying their employees and my salaries regularly since June 2007. Furthermore, their Business Support Contract to SSB/SSPC have been terminated due to non-compliance on their failure to pay the staff’s EPF and SOCSO contributions.
I personally think that their Managing Director, Robert Guma Bujang is a big liar in Miri. He talk too much and failed to keep his words. Too bad that he have to ‘retired’ tagged with a bad business image and reputation. If you are my reader, maybe you should give it a million thoughts before you deal business with this fella.
Today I manage my own shipping and logistics business. Among my clients are EMAS Offshore Services Pte. Ltd., the Ministry of Health, Malaysia and International Paint Pte. Ltd.
Start small and work smart!
