Free Wifi trial without the Internet

Wifi in Bintulu
Star, 10th May 2008

The people of Sarawak is indeed lucky to be the leader in WiFi implementation in Malaysia. If you have a WiFi-enabled device, you will be able to get the signal at major commercial zones in Miri. While writing this post, only a handful of residential areas in Miri are within coverage. We hope to see more coverage on large residential areas like Permyjaya, Tudan Resettlement Scheme, Piasau housing estate and Taman Tunku.

No doubt the trial has been successful, but we were a little disappointed that the provider didn’t include the Internet Connection.

As of now, its WiFi without the Internet for all in Miri.

Well, the free trial was paid for by the government. What is not there is the Internet connection.

Correct us if we are wrong. Deconnexion seem to use public fund to erect the infrastructure for the WiFi and broadband services. The signal is there but where is the broadband Internet?

Why are we not given what was being paid for?

I’ve made attempts to connect but always a failure. When can this be successful? Still using my Huawei modem as well.
